The Bell Legal Group is pleased to announce that J. Edward Bell III has received the 2010 Leadership in the Law Award given by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. The award recognizes those individuals whose leadership, both in the legal profession and in the community, has made a positive impact on our state. Recipients of this award demonstrate outstanding achievement in these key areas: achievement in law, involvement in the profession, support of the community and mentoring.
This year South Carolina Lawyers Weekly honored 17 distinguished attorneys from around the state. They will be recognized at a reception August 29 at the Harbour Club in Charleston.
Mr. Bell, senior partner and founder of Bell Legal Group in Georgetown, SC, is a practicing trial attorney specializing in complex civil litigation. He distinguished himself early in his career in the demanding auto torts field and has become a top litigator at the national level in the fields of automotive safety and automotive defects, police and jail misconduct, personal injury, medical malpractice and most recently environmental law.
Mr. Bell is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and American Association of Justice. He is admitted to practice before the South Carolina Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, and has tried cases nationwide.
Mr. Bell is an active member of the Georgetown community, volunteering and serving the Methodist church, Helping Hands, Habitat for Humanity, and numerous schools and youth programs. He serves on several non-profit boards including the Mission Society and Richmont Graduate University, both in Atlanta.
