Ford Motor Company will improve the roof strength of many of its larger vehicles beyond what federal regulators have proposed.
A jury awarded $18 million Sunday to the driver of a 1995 Ford Explorer and a passenger after finding the vehicle had a defective speed-control system.
The Ford Explorer was exposed to have defects of stability and handing, roof crush and glass/glazing. It should not roll over on flat/dry pavement.
